For the most part however, Toru just likes to mind his own business and do what he can to eat and stay alive. He is usually fixing his suit or exercising on his free time.
Toru's strong sense of pride overwhelms his fear so much that he will go through extremes to achieve his goals, even suggesting sacrificing his own self and even death at times and treats it like it is no big deal at all. He holds nothing personal towards his enemies however. He treats a fight just as another obstacle for both parties to overcome, and like other obstacles in his life, Toru will overcome his way through with his strength.

Toru Barkin was brought to La Crima by a blacksmith named Hepa. he had raised Toru like his own and made sure the child was safe from the town's dangers, teaching him how to wield a hammer and use it for self-defense. This had sparked Toru's curiosity of fighting and getting stronger. He would eventually meet and become close with another boy. This boy would be the one to eventually grow Toru's confidence in combat and had fed his love for competition.
One night, Toru's friend talked about the outside world with Toru and wondered if there were even stronger fighters than these dirty thieves and murderers. Maybe even bigger beasts and stranger beings that hold even stronger weapons. They decided that they were going to race to the top and fight each other with the strongest weapons they could find.
That was be the last night that young boy would ever be seen. Toru woke up and looked for his friend with no success. But it could possibly just mean that he had left early to pursue his dream. Toru wanted to catch up so he decided to train even more before he had left La Crima at eighteen years old to go become the strongest fighter and look for his old friend.
The story begins after two years of searching...
