[Bio] Neo Santiago
Fri Nov 01, 2024 7:46 pm
Albrecht "Neo" Santiago
Basic Character Information
Forename: Albrecht
Surname: Santiago
Epithet: "The Unreliable" / "New Age Enigma "
Birthdate: April 1st, 1800 (29)
Gender: Male
Species/Tribe: Human
Faction: Bounty Hunter
Affiliation:
Position:
Profession: Journalist, Writer & Photographer
Physical Appearance
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 150lbs
Hair Style: Messy unkempt hair
Hair Color: Jet black
Eye Color: Blue, though gold in some lighting
Scars: N/A
Gear: A few athletic tracksuits, a scarf made from an old flag, two swords (a shortsword & a katana)
Description: A bit more athletic than your typical working man, but not nearly as bulky and toned as your combat veteran. He is average in most of the physical sense. Nothing to write home about.
The Past
Main Traits: Foolish, Lazy, Crafty, easily bored
Likes: Money, Profit, Women & romance novels
Dislikes: Responsibility, replying back to messages, keeping in touch, doing work, thinking
Unique laugh: HUEHUE HEHE HUE
Hometown: Jolly Keys, South Blue
Personality: Foolhardy and stupid is how most of his friends refer to him. He's an act first think later type of guy. Wherever there is adventure, he wants to be. It doesn't matter what's important or what's needed, whatever sounds interesting in the moment he will find himself running towards. Truthfully, all he really wants is a great story to tell his friends, and if it happens to be truth, even if exaggerated it makes for a better tale. And if its something they enjoy, then surely it should do even better in the papers.
When it comes down to combat, he's reckless. He doesn't think about himself, or others, he thinks about whatever the quickest resolution is. If he can kill the enemy in a swift blow, then he'll do just that. If he can run away and make it out safely, he'll vanish. He'd rather be uninvolved if it happened his way. Its not to say that he's a coward, far from it. He will fight to the bitter end if he has to. He's just lazy, and whatever involves the least amount of work and gets him back to his bullshit sooner is the path he'll always take.
- History:
Pain as his head throbbed. He opened his eyes to stare at the stars above. A sharp pain in his chest. He gripped the front of his shirt as he tried to recall what happened. "I remember drinking... a lot." the thoughts slowly began to move once more as he looked around. He wasn't in town anymore, that much was apparent. A ship? The sounds of the sea? It was peaceful, and the only thing he could hear was the sounds of boots walking across aged floorboards.
"Aye, the damn fool is finally awake!" the woman spoke upon seeing him open his eyes. She turned to the few men behind her and they seemed to cheer. "A promise is a promise, aye? You done lost the bet, and now you'n gonna write us real good in your paper yeh?"
"Fuck." That's right. It was all coming back to him. He completely botched his last job. He thought it was a regular bounty and killed his mark and brought him in for his reward, he didn't realize the bounty was ALIVE only. He was lucky he still had a warrant out for him, but the several million from the mother wasn't nearly the same as the few thousand the Marines paid him out on.
He drank his sorrows away chasing the next thing, trying to find the next job. He owed his friend nearly 50 million by now. Taking photos and reporting locations of other pirates only paid so much, but they at least covered his rent. He tried to get into writing books but his attention span was fried. He didn't expect that one of the readers of some shitty newspaper he had submitted stories to months ago would have known him in that bar, much less offer him a chance to win it all. 80 Million and all he had to do was outdrink their captain? He'd be stupid to not take that bet, though, he didn't consider what would happen if he lost. Thankfully all she wanted was a bit of fame, or rather, infamy. He wasn't a bigshot, but it did pay decent, and sometimes worked in his favor.
"Yeah yeah, you and your crew will be the center piece of my next story. Just don't go and get me killed." he'd say forcing a smile. Truthfully, he hated pirates, at least ones that weren't on Jones's crew. Those were real fun guys. These people? They were nobodies that would die chasing after ghost stories. But a deal is a deal, even if he did manage to get them a wanted poster they would be far more trouble than it would be worth trying to bring them in.
