Personality: At most given times of the day Garth is carefree and smiling or grinning as he watches the world move and act. Ready to let the day go by without having to do a thing but also mentally prepared to act in a crisis. Garth would gladly strike up a conversation about the first thing he can think of when he makes eye contact with people, just to pass the time. Combat would make him seem a different person; you would never think he was carefree. Having grown up being a local doctors apprentice, Garth knew too well how fragile life could be if not given a helping hand. His mentor always reinforced that, "With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it don't seem like such a bad thing to me to want to put a little bit of it back together". Marines and civilians, even pirates on the run; who was his mentor to say no to lend a hand. Garth was raised and trained to do the same, so long as he could; at least it would seem.

Garth was always the bigger kid in the group when he was growing up. As such other kids around would go to him when they got hurt or were being bullied so he could stop it and make things right. Being raised by a single mother, his father having left as a pirate some years ago, things were rough financially and Garth never wanted for much in life other than to be happy without worry. Sadly that'd not how the world works and his mother would do the worrying for him. Without his knowing of the situation she would find a traveling doctor within the Orange Islands one day and sold Garth to be his apprentice, hoping for a better life in the long run.
Around this time, Garth having turned just 11, he would bid his mother a final farewell before leaving to learn a profession. The next few years would have Garth seeing all of the Orange Islands as he'd travel with his new mentor, Bryce Daunting, learning to heal and fix problems of the world. The man over the years growing to be more of a father he never had than the mentor he was sold to. Some years were slow and peaceful with no real casualties while others would have Garth experience loss time and time again as he and even Bryce would fail to save some from all forms of pain.
Soon a decade had past, now 21 and very much accustomed to failure in the field, Garth and Bryce were returning to his home village. Ready and excited to see his mother and tell her the tales and stories of other villages and of the majesty of the nature he ad experienced. Regrettably, his mother was not at the home when he arrived. Another family was present having answered the frantic knocking of the door only to reveal to Garth that his mother had passed from a mysterious illness some years ago. Morning but not leaving the town Bryce and Garth settled down for a while and after a year or two Bryce started to get more and more frantic about a "package" he spent a large some of savings on some time ago. Two more years pass, now 23 and well trained, Garth is working the field as a trained medic by himself. Bryce however nearly gone mad over a "package" that had arrived not but 5 months ago has yet to leave his room or see patients.
One unfaithful night during a rainstorm there was a loud banging at the front door to their office. Rushing to see what was going on, assuming it was an emergency, Garth went for the door. Reaching to unbar the door Bryce burst from his room, with a cold sweat on his face and cold sweat on his brow e pleaded for him to retreat to his quarters. Not being one to not listen to his mentor and father-figure Garth obliged and rushed into Bryce's room and dropped a wooden beam down to bar the door. As the bar dropped a loud boom filled the room on the other side of the door, whatever was there was now inside. Frantically trying to open a chest Garth was handed a devil-fruit, the Chiyu Chiyu no mi. Confused and puzzled Bryce explained that he paid to have the fruit smuggled to him for research and that the marines were after it to keep from having the public be aware of an ability to heal people to perfection. Bryce would go on to tell Garth to consume the fruit, that he was too weak to study it more and that he needed to figure it out and save the public. Consuming it as quick as he could, frantic to listen under the pressure, Bryce opened a secret hiding spot in the wall behind his bed for Garth before closing it off behind him and the door being blown open.
What happened that night were the regrettable actions of a then 23 year old child, losing his father figure to people deemed protectors of peace. A 23 year old with the forever nightmarish scream of the very same man he would adopt the last name of to honor him and what he was taught. The now six years of training with the Chiyu Chiyu no mi to help the innocent and defenseless people of the world from marines and pirates and all forms of scum, regardless of standing in society. This was his world and he needed to fix it where he saw the unjust cause pain, pain he could stop. Garth Daunting would set out to find similar interests, for this was something that would require teamwork.
