[Tips] Colouring Dialogue

Hello, folks!

Have you had complaints recently (mostly from me) about how your coloured dialogue does not contrast well with the dark theme of the site?

Do you find it annoying to have to think about what colours you wanna use?

Do you hate having to remember/save your colour codes?

Well, fear not, for I am here!

To make my own life easier, along with the lives of some of you, I have added some code that will allow you to use dialogue colouring shortcuts!

You can now use these shortcut BBCode in your posts to colour your dialogue based on the faction the speaking character belongs to (supports the 7 major factions on the site). You can also define whether the speaking character is a player or an npc (player characters get extra flair to stand out).

Use the code given below for various factions.

World Government says: [npc=wgov]"You must submit."[/npc]

[npc=cpol]"We are always watching."[/npc]
Cipher Pol says: [npc=cpol]"We are always watching."[/npc]

[npc=navy]"Protect and serve, and sometimes abuse."[/npc]
Navy says: [npc=navy]"Protect and serve, and sometimes abuse."[/npc]

[npc=bhun]"I'm coming for you."[/npc]
Bounty hunters say: [npc=bhun]"I'm coming for you."[/npc]

[npc=revo]"Give us your life and we will give you freedom."[/npc]
NRA says: [npc=revo]"Give us your life and we will give you freedom."[/npc]

[npc=pirt]"Yarr, give us all your gold."[/npc]

Using the above BBCode, you can colour your dialogue quickly.

If you want to colour a player dialogue, simply replace the "npc" with "plyr" as shown below.

[plyr=pirt]"It's a pirate's life for me."[/plyr]
Player Pirates say: [plyr=pirt]"It's a pirate's life for me."[/plyr]

I hope this helps relieve the annoyance of colouring your dialogues at least somewhat!

You are, of course, free to continue colouring your dialogue the same way as you have before if you prefer to use your own colours. But, please do your best to use colours that contrast well with the site's post colour. I recommend using this site and adjusting the text colour there. You should aim for at least a 6.5 rating on there for your colours.
