Basic Character Information
First Name: Julius
Middle Name/Initial: King
Last Name: Khan
Epithet: The 3rd
Birthdate: 09/14/1811
Gender: Male
Species/Race/Tribe: Human
Faction: Marine
Profession: Navigator / Mechanic
Physical Appearance
Height: 5'10”
Weight: 145 lbs
Hair Style: Standard marine cut
Hair Color: Naturally black but Julius keeps it bleached blond.

Scars: Nothing notable

Description: Julius is average looking in every way. Skinny but not overtly so. A little bit of muscle tone but nothing too noticeable. No major scars nor any tattoos or piercings. Clean shaven most of the time. Good teeth. Standard marine haircut. If it wasn't for his name most people wouldn't give him a second glance.
The Past
Main Traits: Soft spoken, contemplative, insecure
Likes: Reading stories, building things, traveling
Dislikes: Fighting, waking up early, physical training
Unique laugh: Woo-ho-ho-ho
Hometown: Notice, North Blue
Personality: Quiet would be the first term that comes to mind when people think of Julius III. Shy and socially awkward, especially around new people, he has a hard time speaking up and prefers to keep to himself most of the time. When he does become comfortable enough around somebody to speak up he is generally pretty nice and normal. Julius craves external validation. He desperately wants people to recognize his accomplishments. He is very mechanical minded and generally loves working on machines. He uses this love of mechanics to come up with some unique applications for his fruit.
Julius hates violence and generally shies away from it. When he does fight he tries to use his fruit to keep his opponents at a distance using projectile attacks and various constructs. He has never killed before and hopes he never has to.
Needless to say, Julius has a lot of unresolved father issues. The quickest way to get him to dislike you is to compare him, even indirectly, to his dad.
- History:
About 60 years ago the first Julius Khan took out a loan to purchase a small merchant vessel. Over the next couple of decades, he made a series of shrewd and ruthless business deals and turned that one ship into a fleet of about a dozen ships and a steel refinery that still runs to this day. He had several sons with several women. All of whom were successful in their own ways but the most notable was the oldest.
The second Julius Khan.
Julius II was enrolled in a prestigious military academy when he was still a young boy where he excelled at every subject with little effort. After graduation, he went on to become one of the most famous and beloved marines in known history. Like his father, he was handsome, charismatic, driven, and talented.
All traits that his oldest son, the third Julius Khan, seemed to lack.
Julius Khan III never met his mother. In fact, he never even learned who she was. Sure there was speculation. Over the years lots of his dad's friends and fans told him who she might be. That hot, supermodel he saved from kidnappers. That petite Alabasta diplomat he escorted through dangerous territory. Maybe one of the warriors from Amazon Lillie that he trained with once. The list went on. Whoever she was, dad didn't talk about her, nor did she ever reach out to her son. As far as Julius the 3rd was concerned, she might as well have not existed.
Not that dad was much better.
Julius III spent most of his life at a prestigious military boarding school in the nicest part of Notice. Legally the boy's home was his dad's house in a gated community. In reality, though he lived at school. Even during the summers, when most of the other students got to go home, Julius would be enrolled in summer school programs and before forced to stay in the dorms. Not that it mattered. Even when he was home dad usually wasn't. He was off traveling the world and saving the day for his adoring fans, usually leaving his son home with servants or family friends.
This was a running theme in the life of Julius III. Dad could sail from one end of Paradise to the other chasing pirates but could never bother to be home for his son's birthday. The senior Julius once spent three days straight single-handily taking down a deadly pirate crew that, collectively, was worth over a half-billion belli. But he never once attended a parent-teacher meeting. Nor one of the school plays where his son was the leading man. Nor any other (it seemed) significant event in the 3rd's life.
Julius III was told many times it was petty and childish for him to complain. How dare he complain about his only known parent not seeing his school play when that parent was busy saving lives and stopping evil? But to a growing young man, these things were important.
The few times the elder Julius was around for his son weren't much better for the boy. His bombastic, braggadocios nature didn't get toned down just because he was with his son instead of the marines. Never once did he offer words of encouragement, advice, or even basic understanding and sympathy for his son. Instead, he would always pivot the subject into one of the his stories about why he was so great.
It didn't matter what the young man tried to talk to his dad about. When Julius III tried to say he made the swim team, Julius II spoke in great detail about the time he beat a fishman in a swim race to some sunken treasure. When Julius III tried to talk about how he was having trouble talking to a girl he liked, dear old dad thought that was a good time to tell the story of how he once seduced some bikini models with nothing more than a wink, a smile and a flex of his biceps.
Eventually, Julius III gave up trying to talk to his dad about anything.
This would have all been more tolerable if his teachers and classmates weren't always talking about how great his dad was. Boys would ask him if he could get them some merchandise. If he struggled at anything in school, either academic or extra-curricular, teachers never seemed to hesitate to tell him how they were disappointed with him because his dad excelled in whatever it was. On at least one occasion a girl he had a crush on pretended to like him back just so that she could meet his dad. That was a confidence booster.
Before Julius III had graduated he began to resent his father and the shadow they cast everywhere he went. He went as far as dying his black hair blond and refusing to say his last name whenever possible. More than anything he wanted people to acknowledge him and his efforts instead of just talking about how great Julius II was.
It wasn't that Julius was a bad student either. Sure he was below average in some subjects. Sure he hated the early morning PT (physical training) sessions and would usually half-ass them. Sure he didn't like violence at all. To the point where it was a struggle for the instructors not to get him to pull his punches while performing offensive drills or just turtle up when performing defensive drills but he had his strengths.
He excelled at math and science. He was especially proficient in physics and engineering. He loved machine shop and even won a minor award for one of his projects. He had great scores in writing and literature class. He even showed a surprising proficiency in cartography.
For anybody else, this would have been great. He could have had a great career building ships, working on machines, or making maps. But not for him. Not for somebody with the name Julius Khan. Everybody expected him to be a great hero to the people just like his dad. He was expected to be on the front lines...
...sailing the world...
...fighting pirates...
...saving lives...
...seducing beautiful woman...
...never making time for his son.
On the day Julius III graduated from the academy and was assigned a crew Julius II was in attendance. He gave a big speech to a standing ovation. Nobody at the event cared about Julius III, they just wanted face time with his father. By then Julius III was used to it.
That night, after the graduation party, Julius II gave his son a gift. An infamous and powerful devil fruit that Julius II had to pull a lot of strings to get. After Julius III ate the fruit, his dad told him that they got him the fruit because they felt like he needed the extra help if he was going to live up to their legacy. This sent Julius III into a blind rage.
Using his new powers he attacked his father. It was the first time he had ever really wanted to hurt somebody. But even with the devil's help, Julius III was no match for somebody who beat up blockbusters. Julus III was beaten with ease.
When telling the story later, the vice admiral would play it off as a harmless play fight between father and son. Julius III was just eager to show off his new abilities. That was it. You know how impulsive teenagers can be.
When Julius III shipped out the next morning he decided the only thing he really wanted to do was to get people to stop talking about his father.

Getting some Shoto and Endeavour vibes with J3's history. We shall see if J2 ever comes around like Endeavour though.
This is good to go once you add the main traits.
