With the actions of a certain group of pirates his existance was deemed illegal, which didn't sit right with him at all. The world government was corrupt as hell but actually having everyone pay for the deeds of the few just because they were born that way was not cool, thus pushing him towards a rather harsh resentment of the "minkless monkeys" (a slur he uses to define the lesser minks he dislikes) as well as the World Goverment itself.
Despite that vitriol Milo remains deeply respectful of life and nature around him. Thus, while he does not mind being the bad guy people point him out to be, there are values and lines he will very hardly cross. An adrenaline junkie at heart, he'd much rather plan a daring plan with a clever escape than outright engage someone in open combat, even though he could use his fruit and animal companion to hold his own.
He naturally has a passion for fruits says he wishes to travel the world to seek out new exotic flavors, though perhaps there's more to his dreams than meets the eye. Deep down is dream is that of a peaceful life in a quiet place, free from the shackles of other people's idiotic decisions.

Milo's early life wasn't exactly the most exciting or fair of experiences. He was born in poverty and in a small island of farmers deep in turmoil between two warlords' conflict of interests. As such, he was soon separated from his natural family and sold into slavery as a very valuable "pet" for a nice sum of money by the time he was twelve years old.
From that point onwards, he would be brought to a small isolated island with no real name but referred by people as the "Lucky 8", the same as the illegal gambling ring nested within the rainforest type terrain. There, eight different people were running eight different types of illegal gambling dens where all bets were off and alot of shady deals were brokered.
There, he would begin working to get by, his allegiance occasionally shifting from one of the eight House Lords to another as his life was pawned off in a drunken haze during a match of cards or a roll of the dice like it meant nothing. Unable to escape and still too young to really fend for himself, Milo had no choice but to remain subservient to the lords and their fickle minds.
His life would change by the time he was 17, when an opportunity presented itself. The lord he was serving at the time had just lost a servant to an "unfortunate accident" and thus needed someone to temporarily take their place in order to entertain the vip guests that would soon be arriving there. Milo, having lived five whole years around gambling and addiction, knew how most games worked and knew how scam people out of their money. Thus, he managed to convince the boss in letting him handle the game. From that point on, Milo would switch from menial tasks to running game after game after game, his mischief and ability to swindle people out of money garnering him some nice reputation and a small amount of credits he could use on the island by himself.
Eventually, by the time he was 19, Milo had risen from simple slave to something more, still subservient but with a little more freedom to do as he pleased. He would use this newfound freedom and years of experience to begin formulating his plan to get off the island and get free. It would take him months to find a suitable target to use as a distraction but he would eventually manage to find his accomplices. Using the rousy crew of pirates to his advantage. Sparking a large fight, Milo was able to use the sudden chaos to grab a few things and hightail out of there before things got super heated.
He would sneak to the docks, find the perfect ship to steal and immediately set off, cargo and all. Fortunately for him, the vessel he commandeered was on the smaller side and uninhabited. He would eventually find the navigator corner and a few eternal pose that would lead to the first inhabited island. During the voyage, he rumaged through the vessel for anything he could use. First of all, he found a change of clothes that would certainly make him look less suspicious as well as a Devil Fruit with a weird zipper like leaf. Having heard stories about the fruits and the abilities, Milo would be eager to consume it for his own gain, quickly getting an idea of his new abilities. It was weird...but he could work with it.
