Dras B. Feron

[Bio] Dras B. Feron TqsPZo

Basic Character Information

First Name: Drasni (Dras)
Middle Name/Initial: Brendan
Last Name: Feron
Epithet:
Birthdate: November 26th, 1806
Gender: Male
Species/Race/Tribe: Human
Faction: Pirate
Profession:

Smith As someone who aspires to become one of the greatest weapon-smiths of all time, Dras is certainly not lacking in this department. While not currently capable of the great works of the Meito-smiths, Dras' fundamental skills are extremely solid, and he is able to forge most common tools or objects given a forge, materials and enough time. Similarly, he has been working hard to improve his weapon smithing, and is capable of forging up swords, axes, spear-heads, etc to a high degree of quality in a relatively short amount of time.

Physical Appearance

Height: 6'3
Weight: 220 lbs

Hair Style: Dras wears his spiky black hair relatively messy, with little tufts and bangs shooting out from his scalp in almost every direction
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Hazel
Scars: Given his profession, it is no surprise that Dras has a significant amount of old scars, both from burns and blades, up and down his broad arms where molten metals dripped or fires flared. They are all irregular, and seem more of a memento of his apprenticeship than something still fresh and healing.
Clothing and Accessories: Unlike some of the other individuals that travel the seas, Dras prefers to keep his garb relatively plain. He is most commonly seen in a sleeveless white shirt and black pants, which vanish into worn black boots that reach up to to just below his knee. Over said trousers, Dras wears a smattering of brown leather that doubles both as improviser armor and a protector for his lower body when he is in the act of smithing. A leather belt of the same color circles his waist, sporting an unadorned wooden scabbard that houses his self-made katana. Like Dras himself, the hilt and blade itself are completely lacking any form of decoration or pizzaz, with only a black-threaded hilt and squared guard being the weapon's only concessions to appearance. Despite this, it is obvious that both the weapon itself and the scabbard are of extremely high quality, even though they are nowhere close to the quality of a Meito.

As for outerwear, Dras is most commonly seen in a blacksmith's apron if he is working or a sturdy old black travel cloak if he is not, both similarly colored black and well-used and cared for. Both garments hide an array of pockets in which Dras stores various items and tools that he needs to conduct whatever work he is currently doing. Finally, a cigarette commonly hangs from his lips, something he got hooked on after the few months where his quiet life went absolutely batshit insane.

Description: Seeing as Dras has worked both as a farmer and a blacksmith, it should come as no surprise that the man is built extremely tough. He is extremely heavily built, his shoulders and legs almost seeming to bulge out of the confines of his tanned and weathered skin. Despite this raw physicality, Dras does not give off the air of one that uses his muscles to threaten or bully, seeming more like a gentle giant than anything else. The smith-turned-adventurer likes to keep himself clean-shaven even though he tends to let the rest of his appearance go at times. If he is in a situation where he doesn't have access to a razor however, his black beard will grow quickly and thickly, the hair almost seeming wiry in appearance.

The Past

Main Traits: No-nonsense, Ambitious, Stubborn, Strict Morality
Likes:  Simplicity, Adventure, Smithing, Drinking
Dislikes:  Liars, Chaos, Self-Righteous Folk, Sea Kings
Unique laugh: Bahahahahahahahah!

Hometown: Cordale Island, West Blue

Personality: Dras is probably what the originator of the phrase "no-nonsense" had in mind when they first coined the phrase. Down-to-earth, detail-oriented and almost always serious, it is sometimes hard for people to really get a read on what the man is truly thinking. This is not to say he is some anti-social punk, but simply that his natural veneer of practicality clashes hard with some of the more fantastical personalities that sail the seas. Dras likes to complete a task fully and completely before moving onto the next one, hating to leave good work unfinished. While this is an excellent quality to have in a smith and a warrior, but makes him slow to adapt to changing circumstances in life or on the battlefield.

Another important facet of Dras's personality is his innate moral code. Despite the fact he has had to resort to less than savory methods in order to eke out a survival on the seas of the Blues, there are many lines that the smith will flatly refuse to cross, no matter the impetus. Even though he will lie, cheat, and steal to push himself down the path he has wrought, Dras will only resort to such practices as an absolute last resort: something to be tried only when all other options are exhausted. Even when he does so, he will seek to keep excessive displays of brutality and greed to an absolute minimum, and spare the subject's lives if he feels it won't come back to bite him in the ass. Deep down, Dras hates himself for what he has done for the sake of his dream, and sees himself as someone utterly irredeemable, though such feelings are usually sealed deep within.

Perhaps the most critical part of  Dras B. Feron is his desire to adventure and learn. Growing up as one of eight children of a marine Captain, Dras has sought adventure and recognition since the day he could first walk, something that only intensified when he began his smithing career and heard stories of the legendary smiths of Wano. Any chance to further his skills or make his name more storied is something to be seized with both hands, no matter the cost or danger. In his pride, Dras will do whatever it takes to make sure he is remembered: he will not die as an insignificant farmer-smith on a forgotten island, no matter the cost.

Despite these good points, Dras is burdened by many flaws. The smith has a long fuse but an explosive temper and is utterly ruthless with putting down those that have angered him so. This can lead to displays of pigheaded stubbornness and sheer brutality as he seeks to tear through whatever obstacles are present between him and his goal. Despite his eagerness to learn from and meet new people, his plain-spoken and brusque way of speaking often puts people off at the first meeting, even if that is the opposite of what he intends. Finally, the obsessive pursuit of his goals often leads to him developing "tunnel-vision" and can often miss some of the tiny details or other paths that would help accomplish a goal. When he is like this, Dras doesn't seek ways to go over or around a wall, he prefers to punch straight through.

I enjoyed reading this bio quite a bit. Dras is a well-rounded, down-to-earth character with lots of potential for depth. And all portions of the bio were articulated nicely.

I did have a handful of comments, however, which can be found below in orange.
