Dras B. Feron
Basic Character Information
First Name: Drasni (Dras)
Middle Name/Initial: Brendan
Last Name: Feron
Epithet:
Birthdate: November 26th, 1806
Gender: Male
Species/Race/Tribe: Human
Faction: Pirate
Profession:
Smith As someone who aspires to become one of the greatest weapon-smiths of all time, Dras is certainly not lacking in this department. While not currently capable of the great works of the Meito-smiths, Dras' fundamental skills are extremely solid, and he is able to forge most common tools or objects given a forge, materials and enough time. Similarly, he has been working hard to improve his weapon smithing, and is capable of forging up swords, axes, spear-heads, etc to a high degree of quality in a relatively short amount of time.
Physical Appearance
Height: 6'3
Weight: 220 lbs
Hair Style: Dras wears his spiky black hair relatively messy, with little tufts and bangs shooting out from his scalp in almost every direction
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Hazel
Scars: Given his profession, it is no surprise that Dras has a significant amount of old scars, both from burns and blades, up and down his broad arms where molten metals dripped or fires flared. They are all irregular, and seem more of a memento of his apprenticeship than something still fresh and healing.
Clothing and Accessories: Unlike some of the other individuals that travel the seas, Dras prefers to keep his garb relatively plain. He is most commonly seen in a sleeveless white shirt and black pants, which vanish into worn black boots that reach up to to just below his knee. Over said trousers, Dras wears a smattering of brown leather that doubles both as improviser armor and a protector for his lower body when he is in the act of smithing. A leather belt of the same color circles his waist, sporting an unadorned wooden scabbard that houses his self-made katana. Like Dras himself, the hilt and blade itself are completely lacking any form of decoration or pizzaz, with only a black-threaded hilt and squared guard being the weapon's only concessions to appearance. Despite this, it is obvious that both the weapon itself and the scabbard are of extremely high quality, even though they are nowhere close to the quality of a Meito.
As for outerwear, Dras is most commonly seen in a blacksmith's apron if he is working or a sturdy old black travel cloak if he is not, both similarly colored black and well-used and cared for. Both garments hide an array of pockets in which Dras stores various items and tools that he needs to conduct whatever work he is currently doing. Finally, a cigarette commonly hangs from his lips, something he got hooked on after the few months where his quiet life went absolutely batshit insane.
Description: Seeing as Dras has worked both as a farmer and a blacksmith, it should come as no surprise that the man is built extremely tough. He is extremely heavily built, his shoulders and legs almost seeming to bulge out of the confines of his tanned and weathered skin. Despite this raw physicality, Dras does not give off the air of one that uses his muscles to threaten or bully, seeming more like a gentle giant than anything else. The smith-turned-adventurer likes to keep himself clean-shaven even though he tends to let the rest of his appearance go at times. If he is in a situation where he doesn't have access to a razor however, his black beard will grow quickly and thickly, the hair almost seeming wiry in appearance.
The Past
Main Traits: No-nonsense, Ambitious, Stubborn, Strict Morality
Likes: Simplicity, Adventure, Smithing, Drinking
Dislikes: Liars, Chaos, Self-Righteous Folk, Sea Kings
Unique laugh: Bahahahahahahahah!
Hometown: Cordale Island, West Blue
Personality: Dras is probably what the originator of the phrase "no-nonsense" had in mind when they first coined the phrase. Down-to-earth, detail-oriented and almost always serious, it is sometimes hard for people to really get a read on what the man is truly thinking. This is not to say he is some anti-social punk, but simply that his natural veneer of practicality clashes hard with some of the more fantastical personalities that sail the seas. Dras likes to complete a task fully and completely before moving onto the next one, hating to leave good work unfinished. While this is an excellent quality to have in a smith and a warrior, but makes him slow to adapt to changing circumstances in life or on the battlefield.
Another important facet of Dras's personality is his innate moral code. Despite the fact he has had to resort to less than savory methods in order to eke out a survival on the seas of the Blues, there are many lines that the smith will flatly refuse to cross, no matter the impetus. Even though he will lie, cheat, and steal to push himself down the path he has wrought, Dras will only resort to such practices as an absolute last resort: something to be tried only when all other options are exhausted. Even when he does so, he will seek to keep excessive displays of brutality and greed to an absolute minimum, and spare the subject's lives if he feels it won't come back to bite him in the ass. Deep down, Dras hates himself for what he has done for the sake of his dream, and sees himself as someone utterly irredeemable, though such feelings are usually sealed deep within.
Perhaps the most critical part of Dras B. Feron is his desire to adventure and learn. Growing up as one of eight children of a marine Captain, Dras has sought adventure and recognition since the day he could first walk, something that only intensified when he began his smithing career and heard stories of the legendary smiths of Wano. Any chance to further his skills or make his name more storied is something to be seized with both hands, no matter the cost or danger. In his pride, Dras will do whatever it takes to make sure he is remembered: he will not die as an insignificant farmer-smith on a forgotten island, no matter the cost.
Despite these good points, Dras is burdened by many flaws. The smith has a long fuse but an explosive temper and is utterly ruthless with putting down those that have angered him so. This can lead to displays of pigheaded stubbornness and sheer brutality as he seeks to tear through whatever obstacles are present between him and his goal. Despite his eagerness to learn from and meet new people, his plain-spoken and brusque way of speaking often puts people off at the first meeting, even if that is the opposite of what he intends. Finally, the obsessive pursuit of his goals often leads to him developing "tunnel-vision" and can often miss some of the tiny details or other paths that would help accomplish a goal. When he is like this, Dras doesn't seek ways to go over or around a wall, he prefers to punch straight through.
- History:
Dras was born on an small island deep in West Blue, relatively mundane aside from its relatively close proximity to a major trade route through the Blue. One might think that frequently visiting merchants would bring the island some measure of prosperity, but sadly this was never the case. Either through bad luck or simple incompetence, the founders of the island had agreed to extremely harsh conditions on the original charter, losing a lion's share of their profits to taxes and tariffs each year. They were certainly better off than most, often enjoying a small degree of prosperity in the times immediately before The Collection, but the dusty winds that blew through streets of the capital were often accompanied by the cries of hungry children.
In this, Dras's family was more fortunate than many on Cordale Island, his mother had been a marine captain before she retired and had the sheer physicality to make farming a relatively simple task. After all, when one can bench press iron girders and run faster than the wind, the act of pulling a plow isn't all that difficult. This wasn't to say that Dras's life was one of comfort, however. He and all 7 of his siblings had to work hard alongside their parents to feed their family's many hungry mouths, and to keep up with the payments collected at the end of every year by the Marine ship that almost condescendingly came by. Despite his parent's former standing in the marines they were, after all, old and retired, and did not gain any exemption from the crushing weight of the taxes.
Both out of curiosity and a desire to support his family, Dras was apprenticed to the local blacksmith at the age of 13. Showing a natural love and talent for the art, the farmer boy's skill quickly grew, and at the age of 16 was almost equal to his aging teacher. The teenager simply found the act of taking something as common as iron or copper and turning them into guns, swords, and even the occasional mechanical contraption, and something much more fulfilling than simply spending his entire life literally watching plants grow. Whenever a merchant ship came by with stories of the grand battles of pirates and marines, it was the weapons Dras paid attention to, both simple axes, and the fantastical wonders the protagonists had built into the very ships that carried them. The boy's favorite legend was that of the mythical land of Wano, were even the most common of smiths was able to forge wonders like that he could only dream of. Very, very quietly, Dras began making preparations to leave his home, determined to adventure.
Unfortunately, life is rarely that simple. Shortly after Dras's 19th birthday, a sickness swept the island like an almost physical wave of death. Nearly half the population died coughing up blood and worse, including Dras's beloved mother. His father, although he survived the sickness, was crippled badly by its effects, finding the act of simply standing up for more than a few hours at a time an almost herculean task. As the second eldest of his brothers, Dras was forced to step up in his family's time of need, putting in longer and longer hours at the forge until he was rarely ever home. Even when he did rarely get a break, it was often spent assisting his family in the farming and fishing required for their survival. It seemed that, in the end, Dras's grand dreams of forging his own legend by way of his smithing were nothing more than that. Fortunately, fate would soon intervene.
The most significant day of Dras's young life began very ordinarily. Being that it was his turn to fish, the young man left with his pole and small boat, traveling slightly beyond the reef in order to maximize the day's haul. After several hours of monotony, the smith was about to return when the water began to boil and toss like something massive was rising up. Before the panicked Dras could move more than a few meters, however, the Sea King emerged, swallowing his boat whole alongside the school of salmon that surrounded him. Fortunately, the Sea King was so incredibly large that he was able to anchor his boat to the muscle of it's cheek, holding on as it dove deep beneath the waves.
For weeks, Dras survived off the meat he pried out of the Sea King's jaw and the swill that filled its mouth, nearly choking on the thick miasma that filled the space. He was about to give up any hope of escaping that horrible place when suddenly, shockwaves resounded through the Sea King's body, causing it to thrash and bellow in pain. Dras's tiny boat was shot out like a bullet from a gun, skipping like a rock across the waves of the Blues before being rendered to flotsam. Exhausted both physically and mentally, Dras passed out.
When he awoke, he found himself surrounded by the pirates that had killed the grand beast. Maybe out of mercy, or maybe simply out of grand amusement of what Dras told him of his predicament, the pirates forced him to become their swabbie, cleaning their decks and carrying their food as they hurtled curses and abuses at him. Mutely, the smith took it on the chin, his expression unchanging no matter what occurred. He bided his time and waited until the ship was docked at the harbor before swapping the crew's common beer for something significantly stronger, making his escape in the drunken chaos.
Finding himself on a strange land far from home, Dras lived on the streets for a few days before finding work in a smithy, creating horseshoes and other such things for meager pay. It wasn't much, but it was a living, at least until he found an opportunity to venture onto the seas once more....

I enjoyed reading this bio quite a bit. Dras is a well-rounded, down-to-earth character with lots of potential for depth. And all portions of the bio were articulated nicely.
I did have a handful of comments, however, which can be found below in orange.

- History:
Dras was born on an unremarkable island deep in North Blue, so out of the way of normal military bases and trade routes that most maps did not even grace it with a name. [ I think this description of the island is not conducive the rest of your history. For an island to be so out of the way, it still seems to get a decent amount of trade. And it doesn't quite make sense for an island that's not under the Navy's protection to be taxed by the World Government. For an island that's visited by merchants and taxed by the World Government to not have a name is not too sensible either. You are allowed to make up a normal island that's somewhat well-known in the region. ] The inhabitants, mostly fishers and farmers eking a meager existence out of the island's rocky soil, simply called it "Home", leaving the creativity to those with enough free time to contemplate it. In this, Dras's family was more fortunate than many on Home Island, his mother had been a marine captain before she retired and had the sheer physicality to make farming a relatively simple task.
