Clothing and Accessories: The most worn article of clothing that Skoll wears is his black “CRIMIN” parka that he received shortly after his first tour. Under said parka Skoll usually wears loose fitting, plain t-shirts. For his lower body Skoll usually wears dark jeans with two belts and any kind of footwear as long as it is comfortable and fits nicely. Skoll prefers to wear more earthy tones and keeps the colors dark. The one exception to this is the half-giant’s tendency to gravitate towards anything purple, no matter how bright it is. On islands that Skoll deems too warm, he sheds his parka and carries a large waterskin. Finally, When on islands with a unique culture or climate, Skoll will wear whatever clothes are traditional or fashionable among the island's residents. Although he still opts for the same earthy tones even when wearing new clothes.
Description: Standing at over twenty-eight and a half feet tall, Skoll is quite easy to spot in a crowd. The rockstar has a strong, athletic build from a mix of manual labor and long hours playing music on stage during his music career. Skoll has tan skin and is usually seen with a smug and confident look in his lime green eyes. Unlike some taller individuals, Skoll’s body still has the proportions of a regular sized human. Skoll’s face has sharp, defined features. To Skoll’s chagrin, his appearance has not aided him in the slightest in his quest for fame and recognition.
The Past
Main Traits: Temperamental, Vain, Adventurous, Narcoleptic.
Likes: Loud Music, Guitars, Attention, Sleeping, Arguing (Only when he wins)
Dislikes: Nosy People, Revolutionaries, Ungratefulness, Axes, Green Apples
Unique laugh: Skokokokoko!
Hometown: Doerena Kingdom, New World
Personality: Skoll at his core is an attention seeker. The young man often laments about his inability to cultivate a following of his own unlike his bandmates, Causing Skoll to sometimes be easily irritable and impatient in regular day activities. The main cause of Skoll’s frustrations comes from the fact that he has seen plenty of people with status and power that do not deserve it, or are otherwise deemed “unworthy” of said influence by the half-giant. Skoll wishes to resume traveling the world to build up his fanbase and power so he can become “worthy” enough to spread his school of thought across the seas.
Originally a part of Skoll’s efforts to become more popular, the half-giant is very mindful of his outward appearance. Skoll is extremely aware of how much he stands out due to his stature and would be horrified if he thought that others found him unattractive physically. Any time the half-giant finds himself near a large enough reflective surface, he can be seen double or triple checking what he looks like before going on with his day.
Ever since he was just a kid chopping down trees in the woods of the Doerena Kingdom, Skoll has always had a drive to travel and chase new experiences. One of the quickest ways to get Skoll’s attention is with a good story about a place he has never heard of before. Much of the former lumberjack's childhood was spent listening to the stories of his much older coworkers and the adventures they had gone on in their younger days.
One of Skoll’s most noticeable characteristics is the narcolepsy that he suffers from. When living on a cold, harsh, winter island, people learn to get all the sleep they can get. And Skoll is no exception. The half-giants sudden narcoleptic episodes have been known to happen in the midst of combat, and even during concerts. Interestingly, Skoll’s combat and musical abilities are not affected in the slightest when asleep. In some cases, it is quite the opposite. Some of Skoll’s best performances took place when he was asleep. Having lived with this condition for some years now, Skoll has gotten used to waking up in strange places and has subsequently become accustomed to finding himself in situations that would leave most people at a loss for words.
Despite his imposing figure and athletic physique, Skoll actually doesn’t enjoy fighting all that much. Especially when he has to fight anyone stronger than him. In most situations, Skoll will try to defuse a possible conflict because he doesn’t wish to see anyone get hurt. If a conflict seems unavoidable Skoll is known to try and scare any would-be attackers away.
That all being said. Skoll is by no means a pacifist, and he has no qualms with fighting if it is truly necessary. No tactic or technique is too dishonorable for Skoll if it is to ensure the safety of himself, or more importantly, his friends. The half-giant is known for wasting no time in battle and caring little for the (very likely) damage to both himself and his enemies when going all out.
- History:
Skoll never knew who his original parents were. Not that it mattered much in the eyes of the half-giant, Living in poverty in the woods of the Doerena Kingdom brought enough challenges as is. With only himself and his adoptive grandmother, most of Skoll’s childhood was spent with the overly large boy being cold and hungry.
When he was only 5 years old, Skoll was already big enough to be the strongest lumberjack in his neck of the woods. Due to his grandmother’s old age and inability to work, the purple haired boy spent long periods of time chopping down trees, earning just enough to barely scrape by. It was during those long shifts that Skoll found family in his much older coworkers. The older employees of the Albert A. Timber Company took it upon themselves to give Skoll a proper education about the happenings of the outer world. As the young lumberjack grew older he began to idolize and envy the lives of those few sailors brave enough to conquer the seas.
Due to the booming timber industry in the Doerena Kingdom, Impoverished commoners like Skoll had to resort to stealing some of the wood his team cut down just to still have enough money to afford food. At the age of 10, Skoll began to resent the World Government and Marines for their seemingly endless greed. Skoll spent the next 5 years biding his time and gaining more sway with the other workers. Skoll hoped that if he got enough of the workers to go on strike the company would be forced to pay more fair wages.
At 15, Skoll had over half of the company's employees on his side. After a week of consecutive strikes the CEO Albert Ale Xander showed himself for the first time in Skoll’s life. At first, the teenage lumberjack had thought victory was finally within reach. But when Mr. Xander put into perspective just how replaceable the striking employees were, the angry mob slowly but surely lost their edge and returned to work. By the end of the day Skoll was the only one left, and he was unceremoniously fired.
With no livelihood, Skoll stomped his way home. Through teary eyes the youth saw a group of men being attacked by one of the many beasts that had turned aggressive due to the loss of its territory. Jumping in between the group and the beast Skoll suffered a nasty claw swipe to the back. Barely conscious, the former lumberjack fought off the wild animal before collapsing from exhaustion.
When Skoll woke up next he was met with an interesting proposition. One of the men that he had saved was an individual with a lot of sway within Jollywood and the music industry. The mysterious businessman, who introduced himself as Scone, wanted to repay his debt to Skoll by helping him get a new job. Over the next few months Skoll began to learn the bass guitar and discovered that he had a great talent for the instrument. Satisfied with Skoll’s skill, Scone introduced Skoll to the members of Cold Shoulder. Luckily, Skoll got along well enough with the other members of the band and the group steadily increased in popularity for the next three years.
By the start of 1829, Cold Shoulder was beginning to fall apart. All the members, including Skoll, had differing opinions on what they should do next following the end of their latest tour. With tensions at an all time high, the band was to go to an expensive insider party to celebrate the release of their latest album. At some point during the night-long party, Skoll suffered from one of his narcoleptic episodes. When the overly-tall bassist woke up everyone that had attended the party was dead. Skoll looked around but could not find any of his bandmates or his manager among the deceased. While Skoll was still looking for any trace of his friends the media showed up and immediately framed the bassist for the deaths of the party-goers.
Fearing for his safety, Skoll used what little connections he had left and organized a ferry to take him away to the Blues, where he could hide until he had a plan to clear his name.
