Diana Melvi
Basic Character Information
First Name: Diana
Middle Name/Initial:
Last Name: Melvi
Epithet:
Birthdate: 02/14/1773.
Gender: Female
Species/Race/Tribe: Giant
Faction: Pirate Leaning
Profession: Smith, Tailor, Leatherworker
Physical Appearance
Height: 33ft
Weight: 4829 lbs
Hair Style: Long, straight hair which flows down to just past the middle of the back
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Emerald Greed
Scars: Diana's scars are criss-crossing lashes on her back and forearms, usually obscured from view.
Clothing and Accessories: Diana's usual outfit is a leather tabard and breeches of various hides that were stitched together to provide enough material to create the outfit. The stitching isn't likely to win any awards, but it is functional. Upon this base, Diana has fashioned removable, interlocking armor plates that are held in place by a system of buckles. This armor can be removed fairly quickly and provides a decent amount of protection. Completing the outfit is a set of furred gauntlets, boots, and a belt. The belt is an heirloom of Diana's mother, of whom Diana has only heard stories told to her by her father.
Description: Diana is relatively short for a giant, at 33 ft, and her broad shoulders make her somewhat stocky. Broad shoulders, powerful arms, and steady legs make Diana quite a powerful close quarters combatant. Her height has perhaps bestowed Diana with a generous figure, though Diana herself doesn't realize it. Her face while beautiful hides a certain somberness. One can see it in her eyes, too often brooding with their mysterious green depths. Lustrous, ruby tresses spill behind her back to just past her midriff, indicating that Diana takes good care of her hair despite it's tussled and mane-like appearance.
The Past
Main Traits: Stoicism, Loyalty
Likes: Poetry/Epics on Heroes, helping others, songs, the sparks of the forge, cold weather
Dislikes: Arrogance, dishonesty, disloyalty, crowds, humid weather
Unique laugh: Ge-pfft-Heehee
Hometown: Elbaf
Personality: Diana believes in a trust system, and so once she has trust established with other individuals, she will hold you to it. If you fail to act upon your word, or to her expectations she will begin to trust you less and close her heart to you. Thus, it is important when approaching her to act trustworthy. Seeing as she herself has pride in who she is, that virtue is appreciated in others and if you display this strength of will, she will become more open to you.
Combat:
Despite her strength, Diana does not like combat. She would much rather be using her strength to help others and will attempt to find an alternative solution first. But enemies be wary, for it is the cornered beast that has the sharpest fangs. Should Diana be forced to fight, her personality shifts. Brought about by the cruelty suffered at the hands of her human slave-masters, Diana disassociates and a second personality takes over. This second personality was created to protect Diana from trauma, and as a result will search for the quickest method to effectively eliminate/remove/contain the threat.
- History:
Diana was born on Elbath, to Brunhild and Johanson Melvi of Elbaf Village. She was the third child born to the Melvi family, and most closely resembled her mother possessing her mother’s prominent red locks. Diana’s cry rocked the house when she was born, and her mother laughed, calling her “Little Bearcub”. It was true that Diana was the smallest of her siblings, with a brother and sister that well exceeded her height. But, she was stubborn, and possessed strength of will to overcome that fact. When she grew into a young girl, Diana began following her mother on her hunting trips around the island. It was hard. The harsh, steep mountain peaks are unforgiving and plenty of dangerous fauna exist on the island. Along with foul tasting fruit, as Diana found out when she climbed to the top of one of the peaks. The fruit was orange, and consisted of a stem connected to many different pods filled with what appeared to be a purple jelly. Diana simply thought to taste it, foraging for provisions whilst following her mother into the wilderness. The taste however was awful, tart and bitter and had Diana coughing and spitting. But it was too late.
But, by following her mother on these trips, Diana was observing and absorbing valuable information in strategy, tactics, trap-making, combat, and honor as well. There was a ritual Diana would perform each and every time the fauna of Elbath graced them with new resources. Kneeling to the ground, Brunhild would place palms together as if she was praying. Most of all, this imprinted Diana with a sense of the weight of life. It was also on these hunting/gathering trips that Brunhild would teach her daughter combat. "No, shift your foot there otherwise you'll lose your balance. The spear should be an extension of your body. Keep that shield up if you want to live." This occurred much to the consternation of her gentler tempered husband Johanson who always wound up tending to Diana’s bruises.
Yet it was her father’s words upon her sixteenth birthday that ended up sticking with her the most, as he bandaged her up for the umpteenth time. “Diana, I want you to remember this. This was taught to me by my father as I teach it to you. It's important that you care about something while fighting. And well, those who care for others are the strongest of all." Diana didn’t understand then, the words her father meant. But she took them to heart. Unfortunately, her world was about to be ripped away from her.
Diana and her father had gone into the forest to gather up spare wood for the fireplace when they encountered a raiding party that had landed on the island. Perplexed by the sight of humans so heavily laden with iron nets and weaponry, her father approached unarmed to inquire about their intentions. “Excuse me, sirs. We weren’t aware that there were guests on the island. May I ask what you’re doing here?” There was no reply in return, merely a raising of weapons before her father was peppered with sedative laced darts. “Gaha, we’ll be rich, boyos!” Diana remembered how her father cried out, as he collapsed. “R-run Diana. W-warn the others.” Diana turned to run, somehow feeling as if her legs were dragging through quicksand, and then darkness.
Diana was captured to be sold to a Noble in the West Blue and separated from her father. However, the transport ship came under fire and was sunk. Clinging to a piece of driftwood, Diana eventually washed up on the shores of Lvneel. All she wanted was to be free of the shackles, and suddenly found her arms free as the shackles had liquefied and splattered to the ground. With a blink of surprise, Diana saw the shackles solidify, now scattered to remnants on the ground. Not wanting to arouse suspicion, by sitting around with a pair of shackles on the ground, Diana rose and set about finding work with the city. Dead set on a new goal of finding her father or what happened to him, and returning to her mother in Elbaf, Diana Melvin began training once more, and attempting to grasp her new abilities and their repercussions.
As a result of her smithing abilities, Diana has amassed a considerable wealth that she keeps safely stockpiled. It is not uncommon for her to have little hidey holes of wealth she could draw from unobtrusively. The habit having partially arisen from her long time of being a hunter as well as being pursued by those who wanted to capture her and sell her into servitude.

[approve]One thing to note though that Elbaf is currently under the thumb of the Behemoth, one of the Yonkou, and has been so for several decades. And while I can see some bold or wreckless pirates sneaking onto the island to steal away some unsuspecting giants living on the fringes of the society of warriors, it's good to be aware that Loha isn't one to forgive and forget any trespassers should he find out about them.[/approve]
