The Past
Main Traits: Outspoken, Friendly, Adventurous
Likes: Hunting for treasure, Stealing from the rich, The open seas, Drunken singing
Dislikes: The World Government, Rich individuals, Hypocrisy
Unique laugh: "Vah-hah-hah-hah-hah!"
Hometown: Mirrorball Island (The East Blue)
Personality: Blake is an outgoing and friendly young man. He is known in Mirrorball Island, and to a lesser extent the East Blue, as a Robin Hood type of individual; someone who makes a point of stealing from the rich and giving back to the poor. This ideology was instilled in Blake by his best friend Remus, who had helped to rescue Blake from incarceration by the Marines during their youths in the slums of Mirrorball Island, and also due to the fact that his mother had been killed by a rich shopkeeper during his youth. He also has a deep-seeded hatred for the Marines and the World Government, who he feels also had a hand in taking his mother away from him.
From a young age Blake has been an adventurous individual; always wanting to escape from his impoverished life and find a better life for himself. After witnessing the supposed execution of Gray Starks during the Conqueror's War in the year of 1825, Blake and Remus decided that they would set out to seas to someday find the One Piece and bring back with them its wealth so that they and the rest of the impoverished community they grew up in could forever be free from their low status. Other than this, however, Blake loves to drink with his friends and crewmates, and he often finds himself singing merrily when he has consumed a bit too much alcohol.
In combat Blake wields a katana that he had found during a robbery he had committed during his youth. He is swift and graceful in his motions, but he can sometimes tend to get too into the heat of battle and "play" with his opponents. When he is enraged, however, he drops his playful fighting style and employs quick, successive slashes and lunges to win battles quickly. This may sometimes lead him to trouble, however, as he tends to overshadow his own safety when employing this more aggressive style.

- History:
Blake was born into poverty in the slums of Mirrorball Island. His father had left him and his mother before his birth, and it is because of this that his mother turned to petty thievery to ensure that the two of them had food to eat. Blake was not a fan of being poor, however, and he would oftentimes go sit at the docks and look out to the seas, wishing to someday traverse them and find him and his mother a better life. One day, when Blake was 6 years-old, however, his mother was caught in the act by one of the wealthy shopkeepers, and he killed her. This murder was covered up by the local Marines, who had been bribed by the shopkeeper, and they made it appear as though her death was a freak accident.
Now on his own, Blake too turned to thievery as a means to eat and fend for himself. He would eventually be caught by the Marines, but he was rescued by another boy named Remus, who was a few years older than himself. The two managed to escape without being apprehended, and Remus, who was poor and without parents as well, took Blake in. The two became as close to being brothers as they could get and together the two of them shared a passion to bring prosperity to their impoverished community.
By the time Blake was 12 he and Remus were making a huge success of a career by stealing from the rich neighborhoods that dotted Mirrorball Island. They would keep little of what they called their "treasure" for themselves, but would otherwise distribute the rest throughout their impoverished community. During one of these robberies Blake would find a beautiful katana, which he decided to take for himself and began training in the arts of the swordsmen.
In the year of 1825, at the age of 15, Blake would witness the broadcast of Gray Starks' supposed execution at Marineford. Coming to the realization that the One Piece was real and in fact not a legend, Blake decided that he would someday go off to find it so that he could in turn bring back all of the treasure's wealth back home to his friends and community. Remus too would decide to go hunting for the One Piece, and he left the poor communities of Mirrorball Island in Blake's hands when he set out to sea in the year 1826.
Now in the year of 1829, shortly before turning 19 years-old, Blake took the majority of what he had saved from his thieving throughout the years and secured himself a small ship, from which he set out into the oceans of the East Blue on his adventure to someday secure the One Piece.

[approve]Always glad to see another chaotic (but ultimately good) pirate inspired by Gray.
Also, note that his 19th birthday is still a few months away. The site canon is current hovering in the first half of 1829.[/approve]
