Description: Human Form: Iras stands at 15' even with pale, alabastor skin. Flawless, save for the ugly gash-like scar scours the length of her chest diagonally. From right shoulder to left hip. Her eyes are dark grey, cold, and flat. Only warms when something she likes or loves comes to her notice. Her hair is medium to short in length and appears charcoal black in color. In her human form she adores simple yet stylish outfits usually in muted or dark pigments. And refuses to wear any kind of shoes due to her nature as merfolk.
Mermaid Form: Her mermaid form is similar to her human form, save for the bottom half of her body. Which is a fishtail colored with various scales of black, grey, and violet. Gleaming in the water and sunlight like various black jewels strewn about her person. She gains visible gills on the side of her neck which is also grey. Otherwise, she appears completely the same as her humanoid form.

She appears cold and conceited on the surface but is anything but. To those who know her, she is a strong-willed, passionate, warm-hearted, and loyal person. Someone who has suffered a lot due to her naivety in her youth. And has since created strong walls to protect herself from hurt once again.
But she is a human being underneath it all. Who desires love and friendship like any other person. She lies and deceives if it means protecting those she cares about. She also can't let innocent people suffer, despite herself. And has a particular connection towards outcasts and the disenfranchised. She tried to be cold like ice. But inside she is sweet as candy. Iras Reyes was born "Pearl Waveshrine" on Fishman Island fifty-five years ago. She was a sprightly and energetic youth curious about the tales of the world above. Of humanity, islands, and the various mysteries of the great wide world. And while she loved her family and friends at home. Apart from her yearned for something more. Grander than she ever could be.
Against her better judgment, she would help a stranded Marine and his cohorts from a storm wreckage as a teenager. Only for her thanks to be captured and put up for sale on the Black Market. She was eventually bought by a wealthy sort who kept her constrained to a small pond in his backyard nicknamed the "Black Pearl" due to her dark scales and dark hair.
Unable to escape. And left to his mercilessness. She lamented her fate as she grew to loathe Marines and humans as a whole. She was sure she would be left to die in the small pond. But a raid from Pirates would see to her freedom.
Grateful, she would follow them on their travels at sea. Helping them with navigation. All the while learning about the mysteries of the world. Something she thought she deeply repressed in learning about.
It was when she turned thirty that she gained the ability to walk on land with her legs. And as such she became a part of the pirate crew as their Navigator. Tragedy would strike once again, however. As her crew would be cornered by Marines once more. Her crew would die while she fled to the depths of the ocean to flee in tears.
She would change her name, completely discarding her past as "Pearl" and starting anew. Hoping that by taking a new identity she could gain the courage to face her future and escape her past. Taking up the name "Iras Reyes" the name of her crew's destroyed ship in their memory.
Never forgiving the horrible World Government and its crimes toward her. It would be years later after drifting from port to port, island to island. That she could be picked up by "Doji" and the "Yokai Pirates". Where she would find herself attaching herself to once again against her better judgment. But surely, they would not suffer the same fate... right?
