Aside from that, she also wears a piece of rope around her neck as if a necklace to hide the chafe scar and a tiny melon rind as a mask to hide her face.
Description: Arata's small, like many of her dwarf kins. Like them, she has a pointed nose and a golden bushy tail that she generally keeps underneath her clothing. Even despite her species' typical small features, she looks quite youthful overall, appearing more as if she is an 8-year-old human child rather than someone of her age. Her limbs are shorter and frailer than normal, and her face appears far younger than an adult dwarf should appear. Most of her face remains, obscure aside from her lips which are thin and pale. Her hidden features such as her hair typically remain straight in its bob cut while her emerald eyes are large and beady.

Personality: Arata is always filled with child-like wonder, always curious about learning more around the world around her and understanding more about the different types of concepts in this world. Inquisitive, it is not uncommon for her to ask around in an effort to gain answers with her seemingly unending desire for knowledge.
It is also due to this lack of knowledge which is one of her downfalls. Without the common wisdom, Arata may find herself in troubling situations simply out of ignorance because she was inadequately informed or not at all. Often, her tactless behavior is simply because of the fact that she has trouble picking up social cues which makes it difficult for her to understand how to react to another. Because of this, she would interact with others purely by just a gut feeling.
Behavior wise, Arata does do her best to remain courteous of others, but with her inability to understand social cues very well she does not understand the gravity behind her own words. She does tend to be blunt rather than telling white lies and often might say something offensive without even meaning it. She does still try to be polite with strangers, although she will allow herself to loosen up around those that she is close to
Her inexperience with combat is what drives her more joyful approach to combat. She often is elated to try out her skills against another, no matter how dire the reasoning behind it is. Without too much knowledge of how a fight goes, Arata relies purely on her instincts, acting out without much of a plan in her mind.
Arata is quite aware of her inexperience within this field and thus knows better than to adopt an arrogant persona, understanding that if she was, she can easily underestimate an opponent. But still, she has grown to be quite confident with her current skills and understands the types of enemies that she should pick with her fists and those that she would leave alone. The battlefield isn't always completely silent when Arata is on there. She only remains so when she is trying to save her breath or intentionally go unnoticed by her opponent. Otherwise, she doesn't mind striking up a conversation or maybe a little argument about their goals in the process as it seems to always make things more interesting.

Rather than coming into this world in Green Bit, the kingdom of her kind, she was produced after a slave trader had forced her father and mother to breed like they were animals. Both of them were slaves who worked in Tequila Wolf, forced toil and build the great bridge in Tequila Wolf. While there were many different slaves of all species working on it, they still needed more. As a result, they resorted to more unethical means of getting them, including forcing slaves to reproduce and making their children help build them. This was the life that Arata was born into.
She never knew of the outside world or anything aside from her only task to carry large bricks to the adults who would lay them out. However, Arata had heard stories of them from the older slaves during the rare occasions that they were allowed to rest. She had learned about the great lands beyond the blue expanse of the seas, the cities, the towns, and everything. She had always dreamed of traveling beyond to explore all of these wondrous places, but with her current situation, it was nothing more than an unreachable dream.
As the years passed, Arata became bolder. She yearned more and more to explore the outside world which seemed to always slip away from her reach. There were times when she would attempt to escape, only to be brought back and punished with several lashes. At one point they would even fit her with a metal collar and chain her in an effort to keep her from escaping. Yet still, she refused to give up on her dreams. All she needed a miracle.
Whatever god there was out there had sent one her way.
During a food shortage one day, Arata had gone scavenging for something to eat, desperate to fix the aching emptiness in her stomach. Managing to slip by the watchful eye of her captors, she had snuck into their secret stash, thinking that there was extra food that she could sneak out there. Upon entering, the first thing that she saw was an exquisite fruit sitting out there in the open. Unable to control her hunger any longer, she immediately devoured the whole thing despite how disgusting it tasted. It had managed to sate her hunger well enough, allowing her to slip back out.
A few hours later, the entire slave population was lined up and was harshly interrogated by the owners. One of their prized devil fruits had gone missing and the one that ate it would be killed as punishment. Arata, having no idea what a devil fruit even was, remained silent although the clues eventually lead back to her. As such, she was taken to be executed.
The execution did not go as planned, however. Rather than being thrown into the ocean for a simple and easy death, Arata had awakened to her new abilities, allowing her to temporarily fight off her would-be executioners and giving her a window of opportunity to escape, one that she readily accepted. With her small stature, she successfully hid from them for four days before she would act as a stowaway from a supply boat that had landed nearby, allowing her to leave her old life behind permanently.
Afraid that she would one day be recaptured, Arata changed several aspects of herself, claiming that she was now Arata Schmeling and was from Tonttata. In addition, she would begin to wear a melon cap around her face under the excuse that her face was ugly and misshapen. Knowing that she could never live a peaceful life, Arata decided that she would travel around until maybe one day she could find her purpose and maybe even master her abilities in the process.
