Comprehensive
Character Creation Guide

By using this guide, you will learn the entire process of creating your character and making it worthy of belonging to a One Piece RP universe. Just follow the steps in order as best as you can to make this process as smooth as possible.

Any steps with an asterisk (*) require a mod's approval before being finalized. You can request approvals from mods in the [discord]approval-requests[/discord] channel of the Discord Server by linking the appropriate post. Note that you can work on subsequent steps while waiting for a mod's approval on a certain step.

To be able to participate in Revival Dawn, you must join Discord Server, where you'll likely find members around no matter the time of day or night.

If you have questions at any point during character creation, you may ask them in the [discord]help-desk[/discord] channel.

CREATING YOUR FIRST CHARACTER

Step 0: If you have not read the General Rules yet, you must do so first before proceeding further.

Step 1: Read the background story of the site to get acquainted with the Lore. See if it's to your liking before you make a commitment to RPing on the site.

Step 2*: Before you start making your character, you can go to the Starting Bonuses page. You will roll a die there which will determine bonuses your character can start out with (Bonus stats, bonus berries, bonus abilities). You are only eligible to roll for a Starting Bonus if you have joined the Revival Dawn Discord Server. If you do not wish to join the server, you must skip this step.

Step 3*: If you want to use an avatar, you must make a Face Claim of the avatar you wish to use. You must make this claim even if this is custom art you found on the internet. Skip this step if you don't want to use an avatar or if you plan to use your own art. Do NOT use an avatar without making a face claim unless the avatar is your own original design.

Step 4*: Now before you begin writing up your character, you must decide whether you want to use a devil fruit or not. If you do, you must go to the Devil Fruit Claims page and ensure that the devil fruit you wish to use hasn't already been claimed. If it hasn't, you may claim it there. Skip this step if you do not wish to use a devil fruit. Revival Dawn does allow custom devil fruits as long as the concept has not been covered by an existent fruit and the fruit's abilities fit into the lore within reason.

Note: Your character must start out in one of the Blues. However, your history and your hometown in your character's bio can involve islands from even the Grand Line as long as you explain how your character ended up in the Blues.
Note: When creating a new topic related to your character, you must choose the appropriate topic type in the "Topic Type" dropdown.

Step 5*: You may now finally proceed to the Character Bio sub-forum in the Character Creation section, where you will assemble your character's bio. Use the character bio template to learn which information is required for your character to be constructed. The template is fairly self-explanatory.

Step 6: Now before you proceed any further, it is imperative that you skim the Leveling Guide and Combat Guide to help you better comprehend the following steps.

After Step 5, a Discord thread will be created for your character in the [discord]combat-management[/discord] channel. You will then be able to use the appropriate Discord Bot commands to set up your character's combat profile.

Step 7: Use the [inlinecode]/manage-character stats[/inlinecode] command to configure your character's stats.

Step 8: Use the [inlinecode]/manage-character toggle[/inlinecode] and [inlinecode]/manage-character technique[/inlinecode] commands to set up your fighting style. You may need to reference the Combat Guide to understand the various technique types and classes. If you leave any technique slots or toggles blank when you proceed to the next step, you may not be able edit your fighting style until you tier up or buy an equipment that offers a technique slot.

Step 9*: Next, you must create a page to help you (and others) keep track of everything related to your character. You can use the Personal Tracker template for this. Create a new topic in Personal Trackers with only your character's full name in the title (make sure to select the appropriate topic tag). Once you have made your personal tracker, you must link it in [discord]approval-requests[/discord] so a staff member can update your profile and move the tracker to the appropriate faction.

Step 10*: Next, you must request to join your corresponding faction User Group. You may only request to join the following groups: Cipher Pol 1-8, Marines, Revolutionaries, Bounty Hunters, Pirates, or Civilians and Misc. After applying, you must notify staff in [discord]approval-requests[/discord]. Once an administrator approves your join request, your account name will be coloured to represent your faction. They will also validate your combat character sheet in [discord]combat-management[/discord] and turn off the editability of your character's combat profile.

If you have completed the above steps, you are entirely ready to begin role-playing. The following optional steps will only help you enhance that experience.

Step 11: If you are looking for someone to RP with long-term by becoming their crew-mate or colleague, you can create a crew in the Crew Creation section. Alternatively, you may look through the open crews and see if one piques your interest. You may then PM the crew's leader to request a spot if they happen to be recruiting.

If you made it to this point, you are doubly ready to take on the world. You can reach out to other members in the [discord]plotting[/discord] channel on the Discord Server to set up quests. You may also head to The Docks in the Discussion section in search of RPs to join.

DEATH AND LEGACY REVIVAL

While Revival Dawn may have "revival" in its name, it does not apply to your dead characters. However, we completely understand that perma-death can lead to a loss of motivation, considering the daunting task of climbing up the ladder all over again after having spent months or even years behind your character.

And so, Revival Dawn offers a legacy system that allows you to benefit from having previously had a character that died. If you had a character that died, please follow the steps listed below to benefit from the Legacy Revival System.

[info=Notes]- Only characters who had reached tier 2 or above before their deaths are qualified for Legacy Revival.
- If you wish to replace one of your existing characters, you must use this system. You may request to have your character killed off at any time after completing at least one quest.[/info]

Step 1: Create a new account under the name of your new character, and contact an admin mentioning your previous character's death, and that you'd like to use Legacy Revival. Once the admin has verified your previous character's status, the admin will contact you with their approval, and you may begin building your new character using the guide above.

Step 2: This time, however, you may start your character off with 2000 EXP less than what your previous character died with. For example, if your character was level 80 with 8000 EXP when they died, your new character may start at any level up to level 60 (6000 EXP). (Minimum starting level is 10 when doing a legacy revival.) If your character did not die through the combat system and you are simply redoing it, you can start off with your current level.

Step 3: Your new character may start with up to 50% of the berries of your previous character (100% if your character did not die through the combat system). You may also start with all of the perks and equipment that your previous character had earned. You may also inherit any uneaten devil fruits and consumables you had acquired or purchased.

Step 4: You may keep your starting bonus from your previous character and all of the special perks earned subsequently. Alternatively, you may re-roll for your starting bonus up to three times and pick the best roll (only if your previous character died through the combat system).

Step 5: If you had any turfs in Paradise or the Blues, you may pick a single turf from among them, that you would like to inherit. However, you must do an Episode quest to explain how your new character inherited that turf.
Note: You may only do this if your character was the leader of the owner group and all of the remaining members of the owner group are either dead or have renounced their claim on that turf.

These are all the benefits that are offered for a Legacy Revival. This system will surely set you on your way for a second coming.
